The walls of that tunnel must be quite damp because the path underneath is wet. But I bet it makes a welcome stop when the sun is hot and humid.
You’re right Hugh – the walls are always damp, and they were especially so the day I took this photo. We had had quite a bit of rain, and there was even water dripping steadily from the ceiling that day. It’s a wonderful respite when we’re out walking the trail on those hot days.
